While he’s not totally wrong, as someone who has been to rural lower class white communities. Communities where the argument is that they need these guns. There are plenty of people who probably should not have them. Also, and I may be totally wrong. Feel free to call me out. But I feel that the gun problem in Chicago is because of the more rural communities in the states surrounding Illinois. Where you can buy as many guns as you want, and can sell them privately to anyone you want. It’s not like a database is being kept of who owns what.

Instead, you should be capitalizing on the trend of black females (supposed) tendencies towards entrepreneurship, by MAKING IT EASIER for them to start businesses, thanks to government sponsored health insurance (aka Medicare for All)...

(I think most of the Sanders haters in here aren't really black, but that's another story. They'd rather support their boy Trump so Trump can help private prisons continue to make billion$$ through modern-day exploitation of the "slave caste". )

Not just this. There is definitely some dog whistle politics at play. Part of his reasoning for taking a harder stance against people in California and Illinois for owning guns is that people there also "shoot police".
He's trying to signal to them boys in the rust belt that he has their backs and is one of them. He knows where his bread is buttered.
