i dont see any 21 year olds on this board achieving professional tennis and winning majors and making millions, do you? fukk outta here, I respect the fukk out of that girl cause It's not an easy goal to achieve what she has achieved, let alone as a black/asian woman.

Above the fray.

One interesting part of this story is that Simon Bolivar, who they call the George Washington of South America for fighting against Spain's colonialism, actually went to Haiti to lick his wounds, recuperate, and regroup, and it was after this visit he went back to Venezuela/Colombia and began the South American Revolution that freed the Spanish colonies.
..................and this is how Bolivar repaid Haiti, with betrayal

Good shiit. I like objective truth.
I vaguely remember that part.

So Bolivar was only partially able to free any slaves according to that piece, but then ghosted on Haiti when it came to recognition.

Reading that article makes you realize that Haiti was literally and figuratively surrounded by racist countries....just on that basis, for a a black country of former slaves beat out a world recognized military at that time right in the geographical center of the Americas had to have jokers furious across the hemisphere

Politics in that era was very complicated....and leaders had to make decisions based on what suited their country's best interests. I've heard the arguments for Bolivar's moves. Historians are experts in juelzing, after all.

.. but the facts are that Haitian leaders inspired and gave assistance to Bolivar. Assistance that was pivotal to Bolivar's success and to the independent movements across the hemisphere .
&
-Bolivar refused to officially and formally recognize Haiti as a country
-When he organized the Panama Conference in 1826..invited countries in the Western Hemisphere....and did not extend and invitation to Haiti

Bolivar was part of the forces that wanted to isolate Haiti.

I got my hands on a film about SB a few years back. There was a scene of him arriving back to the shores of South America to cheering crowds. They showed some smiling enslaved Africans in the crowd cheering.....and I turned the bullshyt off.

Haiti fukked up by trying to liberate the DR though. They were entrenched in Spanish culture.

And the French basically destroyed the land :snoop: which reflects even to this day.

How did the French destroy the land. Environmentally, I've read they have cut down to many forest for firewood, and it's bad for erosion and just the overall landscape.
