You really need to watch the anime or read the manga though. The fight scenes are brutal but like someone said the writer is a medical doctor and specialized in human anatomy and he pretty much shows how certain muscles are responsible for moves and how dedicated these samurai were to their training and the pride they had for their dojos. The two main characters Gennosuke and Seigen have a rivalry that spans years and results in both of them looking the way they do in the first episode. The rest of the story is a flashback and shows how the beef started. I don't know I liked it b/c it wasn't your typical revenge BS anime story. It showed the caste system the Japanese had back in those days their tradition and customs. (The Grandmaster Kogan is real type nuts though) Don't be turned off by that pic I think that was something the author drew but I don't remember Seigen doing that. I think it was used as symbolism of some shyt. It I could be wrong.come on breh. That didnt help your point at all. That shyt was just grotesque for no reason. I love anime but that right there just just off-putting
. I hope some people who have never watched anime dont see that ish and make a blanket generalization cause thats not how all anime is. Just a disclaimer for the unexposed. To each his own i guess......

well youre not gonna find anything that's close to detail when it comes to animation. Those are usually seen in movies with big budgets.

when it comes to anime, most definitely...i'll watch live action shows and movies if i want that deep cerebral story driven shyt
very interesting. I put in Shigurui andn got back Afro Samurai and Claymore, both I like ALOT. Basilisk was the first recommendation. shyt is lookin pretty epic.
Basilisk is a good choice. Moves slow at times but has the same medieval Japan setting and very violent. Attack on Titan if you havent seen it yet. Not as mature themed as some others but def graphic and violent. Death Note not as violent as the others but one of the best stories as far as anime...edge of your seat type shyt def must watch. Samurai Champloo if you haven't seen it, its a classic.
Ninja Scroll and Rouroni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal OVA for movies.
Not sure how much anime you've seen but all of these are mature oriented and a good watch

seen death note, its good. Champloo was a bit boring to me despite it being so popular. Im finishing up Texnolyze then jumping to Basilisk. Im also catch an ep of terra formas same dude that made shigurui, his most current project.

Basilisk is one of the best animes I've seen that's never talked about. It has one of the saddest death scenes I've ever watched.

Going to give this a shot, i enjoyed basilisk and it appears this is similar to it.

I loved that shyt tbh. Had some issues with it but by in large I thought it was amazing. The old master nicca was wild as fukk though.
I thought it was ok, maybe a little above average. It took a second viewing for it to all sink in for me, but I marathoned it.
