Run this town and more so ESOM saved the BP3 era for Jay

DOA fell flat, Jocking Jay a was a disaster and Ghetto techno got leaked

This is two completely different eras. The first album cycle for BP3 was full of flopped songs:

Jockin Jay Z
History
Brooklyn We Go Hard

He went back in and redid the album and "Death of Autotune" was the first single. It was a moderate hit, but that was moreso the "street single" and "Run This Town" was the main single.

What changed was that album was getting dogged by critics until "ESOM" dropped and suddenly it was ranked as one of the year's best. "Ghetto Techno" was never a part of the rollout. It was played by Timbaland online as a scrapped song he was considering for Shock Value 2, but it never made that album either.

Shouldn’t that all be considered “BP3”

Jack Harlow -First class

Jack dropped an awful second album when he was one of the most anticipated rappers at the time.

Even his Drake feature is mocked for how bad he performed on it

"First Class" was fire (I love the Brandy remix).

Jack knew he had to change direction, which is why his album from this year was the complete opposite. I think people are already over him, though, because it's like the album never came out.

Big Pimpin & Do It Again for Vol 3

Jigga started promoting the dynasty less than 8 months after the release of Vol 3

The song with Mariah flopped, the copycat single to Hard Knock Life (Anything) also flopped

The Dynasty was originally supposed to be a Rocafella compilation. Jay quickly pivoted bc Vol 3 sold 40% of Vol 2. He wanted to bounce back quickly and the dynasty was repurposed from a crew album to a solo album.

Jigga was in a weird space. This was the time he was also hopping on remixes to OG songs that Jada was featured on. Styles told him, GOMmanD, let him do his #s :mjlol:

this dont make sense at all. Vol 3 was gonna be success regardles. thats what lead singles do. Big pimpin was the 2nd single. Things u do never happened because Mariah didn’t have time to do the video. Anything was supposed to be on the OG vol 3. So it was gave to beans well after vol 3 came out. So idk why that song was mentioned

Jimmy Cooks is a good one. To be fair, though, the promo for HNVM was virtually non-existent. Drake just dropped it out of the blue and did literally nothing to push the album.

Also, Wayne's album IANAHB2 was on the verge of bricking and flopping badly until he dropped "Love Me" with Drake and Future. Before "Love Me", his previous singles came and went and didn't have longevity. And he kept postponing the album which was supposed to initially drop in 2012.
