The Recession and The Massacre

Jeezys best album. It didn’t have the impact TM101 did which is viewed objectively has a classic but god damn this album is great from beginning to end.

Same with The Massacre. The singles got overplayed but the music and songwriting is some of Fifs best m. Especially if you listened to a lot of g unit radio.

Massacre i agree with.

Recession is far from the best jeezy long player album.
Recession only has one good jeezy classic playlist record.

It is a defjam road album. Where some a&r type person. Or maybe jeezy being on a road trip. Someone at defjam on a road trip programmed that album.
The playlist fits together with cohesion. Yet it has no high point. Especiallybwhen compared to the big budget second album.
When you compare jeezy to himself as an artist at that point. It was the first deso project.
after jeezy failed to do proper quality on cte. as a run in every facet of the market place. After cte's flopped run.
damaged jeezy's original appeal and draw Beyond the point of no return.
I know what caught you up in the listening to that album. As this album was the only store bought commercial long player in the market at that time. That it was a good time for jeezy to drop. As it wss not much in a lull based market place in that time.

I-20 is a good four mic southern alnum. That actually features the only moment chingy was good ever.

I20's album is As good a darkhorse. if not infinitely better than cool breeze. With better everything.
past the two over hyped records on cool breeze's creatine.
I 20 made the darkhorse defjam major label out of nowhere southern collective record. That is overlooked. One of those defjam albums that is a defjam submission through and through for that era. In direction sonically. Yet vastly ignored in the dtp legacy family tree of quality as a discussion point.


With an actual defjam gun song in the title. Which defjam will generally downplay or not have at all. After the backlash.
to throw ya guns by onyx back in the day.

That even chingy actually doesn't fukk it up. That it is the chingy moment you can spin. If you happen to nostalgia spin like there.
Then need a hard song to close out spinning two or three chingy records.

Never catch me spining chingy freely outside this moment.
Just saying if you obe of rgose nostalgia piggy back dj's with. O cultural shame. If you want to try to spin chingy at a party. Then you need to spin guns to save face by 1-20.


Just adding this caveat to this album. As it is one of those.

I can see how it is not given a classic rating. While doing everything within the x's and o's to be granted a classic rating.
Could be the record. Where producers who rap were given a pass on debut skillwise. Yet other peoducers who rap never ramped on the mic. Yet souled't out on the second album. That the press had to save the producer who raps artistry. That it became this thing in pr. That kanye used to his advantage. Without ever being skilled enough to do so. Yet this album is kinda how all producers who rap.

outside of gangsta rap producer who raps.

low skill on the mic debut of dj quik are given a pass for in the marketplace.

In closing.
I can see how this album is overlooked and heralded.
Yet in reality spin wise.

The only badboy album. i actually like and spin as a personal listen.
It loses focus in spots. Then the comeback focused records arr such high points in commercial style rap. You have to ignore g dep let the undergrpund down and givr props and listen.
.some of the best hardcore commercial big budget badboy collab records on this.
