I think it's cuz Jay spent a LOT of his youth just people watching and doin his dirt lowkey, he never had the flair or charisma to take over a room until Dame showee him and even then he still does it in a lowkey kind if way

I think despite the perception we have, alot of these musicians are introverts/shy. Some more than others.

I think its pretty clear Jay-Z was/is a introvert and/or was really shy. Im very much the same and i always
get that feeling watching him.

"I'd rather put up my own money than use other people's"

Dumbest shyt ever and every business person on this earth would say the same.

Depends on what your goal in business is, breh

If ownership and equity is your goal, then what Dame says makes sense

If monetary gain by any means necessary is your goal, then what he says may seem a little crazy

Neither mindset is wrong IMO, just depends on the person

:mjlol:

Yo this shyt got me rolling, the whole episode is full of fukkery on so many levels. Like some of the brehs i hav my issues with some parts of Drink champs, The constant "make some noice", Nores interruptions and MMmmmming and so on.. But this episode reminded me of what crack me up the most about this podcast and in the end make me fukk with it, the fact that Nore ALWAYS drink himself under the table, not one guest has come close to get as trashed as himself on his own show, even tho he is the constant instigator when it comes to doing shots and passing blunts, he is the one ending up on his ass, slurring like he about to have a stroke.

And as much as i could go on about Dame and all his usual interview antics and shyt talking , i got to give him props for going in for the kill when he saw the weakness exposed..

NORE: I been drinking Dusko for 1900 weeks, can i get a pass?:mjcry:

Dame: Take a Dusko man

EFN: Cmon Nore atleast have a half Dusko

Nore: (dying) :why: *has a sip*

Dame: Thats not enough.:dame:and you mixing:camby:

EFN: He tryin to outdrink the Drink champs:damn:

Dame: Oh this the Drink champs? ok :dame:

Yeah, which is one of the many reasons it's always been hard for me to respect Jay as a person

He sat around watching Dame, picking the best parts from his personality, then turned around and sided with the same people that Dame spent Jay's entire career with Roc-A-Fella Records, protecting him from

Only reason that nikka is still around today

Agree with everything except the year. I feel it started to change around '98-'99.

Nah, I agree with you

It started after he was in the game for a couple years

But that super comfortable, super confident Hov we see today, was complete around '01

Before then, he was doing his best Dame Dash/Biggs impersonation

He was the nikka they picked to portray their lifestyle in rhyme form

A little crazy? Its flat out stupid.

We're talking about businesses not property. Find me a company CEO with 100% of the shares of their company.

You hear stories everyday of people leaving the corporate business world to make money in small business, breh

Some folks would much rather own a couple laundromats and barbershops, than deal with the politics of working their way up the corporate ladder

Dame is speaking to those people

I don't think you will ever see another dame again. Not saying he was the greatest Ceo..but you Got to respect his self belief even if at times it hurts him. He built one of the biggest and successful labels ever, and yes he had jay but jay couldn't get fully in the game until dame came along. They were the perfect foil for each other. And going back to his uniqueness, he was the right amount braggadocious, business and street smart, fly talking and entertaining ceo their has ever been.only Diddy can challenge him. Even if it didn't last that long when rocafella were on top. Could say apart from charisma he was the total opposite of suge.

Breh, Jay was awkward as fukk when he came out

I have this theory that it's the reason he always had this subconscious hate for nikkas like Nas and Cam

Their swag and personality was natural, and matched the nikka they talked about in their rhymes

Jay always looked uncomfortable in his videos and interviews until like '01

I agree, to me jay has never had that aura or appeal that draws you in. Look how low key nas was and is..byet whenever you saw him on tv or radio he had/has that 'star' quality. Even when he went on his tirade on power 105 it was pure poetry and effortless. Jay is one of the greatest mc's no doubt but his personality although has grown over time is still weak to me

Yeah when you see the clips of dame blasting Kevin lyles and talking about the snakey shyt def jam were doing it was always to protect jay and rocafella as a whole. How you have to be on your guard against your own parent record label all the time because they're trying to steal your main act..crazy when you think about it

Nah if you an introvert it makes sense to try to pick up a few traits from an extrovert, this is the entertainment business we talkin about, even the shyest nikkas gonna get dragged on a podium to speak every once in a while

Cant act like Dame wasnt at fault at all, damn near everyone who has done an interview said the same thing, dame was mad extra and never showed signs of slowly down, it makes sense to part ways with someone like that once it starts hurting more than helping

Hov's only knock was tha it seem very secretive about parting ways until the last minute when he snatched the rug from under dame feet
