I been sitting on the sidelines during the Wii U discussions and there's a lot of disinformation going on in The Arcadium. I'm the type of gamer that has gotten into fistfights over goldeneye and street fighter, here's my honest review...
Nintendo Wii U is like having an Arcade in your living room. That's the best way I can describe it. The crisp graphics, sound and easy to use controls really make it feel like coin-operated entertainment machine in your home. Its hard to describe but if you ever been to a dave and busters or movie theatre to play the arcade games, this will feel right at home.
The miiverse is one of the best features about this system. Its like having an integrated twitter/facebook where you can pause the game any time and post pictures or share comments with other players. It's really cool. For instance there were a few really hard bosses in NG3 that I asked for help on and got a bunch of replies almost instantly telling me how to beat the boss.
Netflix and Hulu are a nice touch, much easier to launch and use than the Ps3 version and much smoother and crisper. Overall the menu system is simple but very clean and not as clunky as the xbox and ps3. The internet browser is the best I have ever used and easiest. Bookmark system is clean and using the stylus to navigate is a big innovation.
The gamepad is great, feels very light and comfortable and nice crisp screen. The ability to play games is key. Watching football or surfing the coli while playing mass effect or super mario on the gamepad is great.
Graphicly having everything upscaled to 1080p is very noticible compared to ps3/360 on games like assassin creed and mass effect. NSMB looks gorgeous.
The surround sound is uncompressed 5.1 PCM which means you need to have a reciever with an HDMI input/output to take advantage of it. My sound system is years old and doesnt have HDMI so I can speak on it but the regular stereo sound does the job. A lot of the games also use the gamepad speakers to use sound effects like gunshots in some games.
Is it next gen???
Yes. Wii U just feels like a new gaming system to me. Not an entertainment center or blu ray player that plays games. Best way I would describe it is a portable home arcade. At launch all the games look and play just as good as ps3/360 if not better. These games are using ps3/xbox to almost full power and are easily handled on wii u. So in a few years the games on wii u will blow ps3/xbox out the water.
best games to get -
NSMB
Ninja Gaiden
Sonic Racing
also I been a playstation gamer all my life, this is the first nintendo wystem I own since i was a little kid.
PM me if you wanna add me or feel free to ask me any questions on the wii u that you have
