Porzingis' blocks, rebounds, steals and assists are all down from last year. Hence the jump I was looking for. You guys all get excited over volume scoring...the problem is that doesnt really correlate to wins. He needs to do all those things a hell of a lot better if we're looking for him to be cornerstone player. That's all.

:dead: woooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww

His blocks rebounds and assists are down from a barely average rookie year in those categories. He's 7 feet tall, he should be a better rebounder. And we can't grade him in assists and steals now lol? He plays on the perimeter all game- he should be able to pass.

Trip I can understand your cautiousness but come on. The kid is clearly playing better than last year & we're still early in the season.

Everything is great!
why must you always view it from one extreme to the other?

Porzingis is having a better season than last year. Have you not watched? Are you that inept at being able to sum up Porzingis' performance this season so far? There's no way you can legitimately say you watch Porzingis play and come to this conclusion?

What in God's name were you expecting from Porzingis at this stage of his career that was gonna calm your nerves? Put it this way: he's been the best 2nd year player this season so far and I'd venture to say only Myles Turner has improved by a greater leap out of the '15 class (and he had a higher hill to climb)

My cautiousness is completely tied to this "unicorn" stuff when he's doing nothing really all that great besides take a bunch of shots. The media has crowned him already....he needs to get better, specifically with rebounding- that's all.

28 ppg on 52 percent shooting
45 percent from 3
12 boards
4 blocks
4 assists
3 steals
thats the statline he's looking for from a sophmore 21 year old

the fukked up thing is...:dead: he might actually come really close to those kinds of numbers when he's at his physical and skill prime

How is he having a better year? Because he's shooting more? I dont care about shot volume lol

I'll be the first to tell you the media has done this to him & I don't like it either. But he's playing better though. And you can see him gaining confidence. He's gutted out some tough games & came up with some big shots this year after shooting poorly for a big portion of some games. I don't think he would've been able to do that last season

he's among the leaders in rim protection
Three players have defended more than 350 shots and held their opponents to more than 4% below their average field goal percentage: Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green, and Kristaps Porzingis
the other two names are gonna be the two main contenders for DPOY...to make you realize the company he is in.
hes shooting more and shooting a higher percentage than last year from all over the court...especially in the paint EVEN WITH his slump
you're blind to stats....and you cant even read them right.
i'm 100 percent sure you dont watch games.

He's defending better in spite of the fact that his fouls have gone up. When the team actually runs offense, he's very good in that cog, so he's figuring out the system well. He plays well in close game situations, so pressure isn't affecting him. He LEADS the Knicks in win shares, so contrary to your warped opinion, Porzingis' game IS contributing to the Knicks' decent record more than anyone on the team. Yes, he's shooting more, but he's shooting better, which is a GOOD thing. I'm sure you can't stand his rebounding totals, but guess what? The Knicks are 5th in the league in rebounding. That means everyone is rebounding on the team. Again, that's a good thing. If you want Melo to shoot less, well someone's gonna see an uptick in their shot volume. Porzingis isn't doing anything to question why he's getting more looks.

New York media and fans especially in a post Jeter world are gonna look for that next KONY and they see a vacancy, but KP's not all hype. He's really playing well and getting better.
