5 by 5 doesn't seem to do anything to me. I started with 150 on squats now i'm at 255 using the 5 x 5 routine but It doesn't look any different.

It takes time and if you want growth you have to eat and get enough protein
I say squat/deadlift 2 days of the week personally. I think they're the most important lift.
3 x 5 both days and do it heavy.

Starting Strength and/or Stronglifts.
They focus so much on leg development its resulted in a running gag ala "T-Rex mode" and the like.
Serious' leg strength went through the roof on it.
