I have also seen some get a kick feeling like they are better then the wife and they are wanted over someone else. Its competition . I never understood it and I rarely see it work out in their favor.

A large part of the scenario is the forbidden fruit aspect. The idea that he's unavailable and that she's somehow getting over on another chick because she can get him away from his wife. That he's with someone else but he just can't stop thinking about her.
The reality is, she's lying to herself and soon enough she will find out the penalty for self-delusion once he confirms that he's never going to leave his wife, he doesn't love her or even care for her deeply and she's nothing more than a convenient nut.
Oh, and of course that $400 is helping convince her too. Not to say that $400 is worth the hassle, but I'm sure she thinks she's winning because of it.
Truth is, if someone doesn't want to build with you, then you're not that important to them in the grand scheme of things. Oh, and that goes for men AND women too. No matter how many times they sex you, buy you little trinkets and laugh with you, if they're not willing to make those important investments with you, then you're just pass-time. And soon, you'll be a by-gone.
