Brad Pitt's Make It Right Rebuilding Project Gone Wrong Foundation Considering Legal Action Over Rotting Wood

The Make It Right Foundation, the nonprofit founded by Brad Pitt to aid in the environentally friendly rebuilding of New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward after Hurricane Katrina, is considering legal action against the supplier of some of the wood used on 30 of the homes that have gone up, according to the Big Easy edition of The Advocate.

Spokeswoman Taylor Royles told the paper that some of the glass-infused wood used to build outdoor steps and decks has already begun to rot despite a 40-year guarantee of its durability.

"Make It Right is ambitious and tries new things all the time in order to make our homes better," Pitt said in a statement released by Make It Right. "Where we find innovative products that didn't perform, we move quickly to correct these things for our homeowners."

some of the comments under that story are going even harder on him ....

"The article fails to mention how few houses they actually built, how rarely Pitt showed up to oversee the project, how unbelievably long it took to build these houses and the very high number of houses that now have to be re-done. Or the fact that Pitt's press release only came AFTER several tabloids uncovered the story. He really has no other choice but to make it right now."

interesting

but i know he could not oversee every aspect and people under him were directly responsible

i think they were just trying to get over and he had no clue but it is still his responsibility because it is his org

I agree. dude is Hollywood with shyt loads of money and wanted to do the right thing. I don't think anyone should blame him if the wood is rotting like they claim. he just wrote a check.

I think New Orleans is different than other places. That singer Harry Connick Jr. walked on the streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit and no cops or military had moved in yet. It was just him and a camera crew, no bodyguards.
Of course, Drew Brees' hood pass is completely useless in other neighborhoods.
