It was to be taken seriously, he was mad his fans didn't like Lasers much despite expressing disappointment himself before the record even dropped.

With that said Lasers was THAT BAD, really disappointing, I still bought it to support though.

:birdman:

Stop your lies bruh.

Lupe was forced and bound by contract to do the album. They wanted it to sound more radio friendly and he was against it. He had no choice. The guy was even suicidal about the whole thing. He even went around telling people BEFORE the album dropped, that he didn't like it and that he didn't care if fans supported it. Lupe did not want this album to be taken seriously.

You don't get what I'm saying.
Normally he uses his inhouse producers and writes the records from scratch.
It's what he prefers to do, the thing about that though is if he writes the entire record himself then he owns it, so the label can't make cash like that from him.

On his third album they wanted THEIR records on there, using THEIR producers and THEIR concepts.
That's why they were fighting so hard initially because he wanted to do what he'd done on the previous two albums, this time they wanted a large cut (because The Cool was really successful) so they worked out a deal to get their records on his album AND the ones he personally chose to go with the release.
With that said he still managed to make records HE CHOSE TO DO HIMSELF.
His fans just for whatever can't believe that he made music that doesn't really fit the mold he created on TheCool/Food&Liquor.

The lyrics were ALL on point on LASERS.

3 classics and F&L 2 :cook:

Stop lying, he said himself in interviews that he didn't like how he was forced to do SOME songs. These songs were the singles, which were the best songs on the fukking album. On his last interview, he said he doesn't even listen to hiphop and that his next album will feature poppy/techno beats as well. Most cats are "forced" to deliver singles that get your buzz up. In retrospect the sales and the only good songs on the album are due to Atlantic Records.

this is all true but then he dropped that wack ass Friend Of The People mixtape which he was hyping like it was gonna make up for Lasers, SMH. Im actually a fan of Lupe, but he really gotta come correct this time around cause he on a bad streak right now.

So he's supposed to be some super militant type... But was forced to make those pop singles by his label?

OK now you're just making shyt up :shaq:

Lupe has never come out and said before Lasers dropped he was disappointed with the quality of it. Perhaps the direction but not the album itself or the songs on it. All Black Everything, Show goes on and Words I never said are powerful songs. I said it was average but people love to exaggerate. Go check out Future, 'Tony Montana' for terrible music or just be a lot more specific with the way you critique things.

:stopitslime:

Show Goes On is a label song, they made that beat.
All Black Everything is the song he made.

That was one of the points I made.

As for the bolded....the fvck are you talking about ?
He definitely DID NOT like how the album was shaping up, oddly enough though he wrote a good deal of the records on this BECAUSE HE WANTED TO
no label input. However there were songs he didn't want to do but made them because his label was flexing their might (potentially shelving his album).

Two links out of hundreds.

Again I don't like to go off and just say sh1t I typically can find sources for what I say.
Anyways this is off topic and I don't plan on arguing any further after this post.

I know man, I remember hearing a few years back that those label problems were all a ruse(sp?). He knew what he was doing the whole time, I'm not a fan of dude but this is the music business we are talking about. He made that laser album(he wanted to reach a bigger group?) and complained about it (? I think) just to save face.

Lu doesn't even vote.

His political opinions should go in the bushes.
