I never met an immigrant who hasn't sent money back home

I have but it's not on a consistent basis.

Like if i have family who need something i'll help. But overall my family in Haiti are either doing well enough to be okay and not need help or too proud to ask for anything. My father's side of the Family are the ones that might need it but are too proud to ask unless absolutely necessary. My mother's side of the family are fairly well off. By that i dont mean rich but they are professionals who can afford to support themselves.

I have a half brother who will sometime ask me to send him stuff but not money. He has too much pride to ask for money. Very much like my father and myself. I have a half sister i never really knew that sometimes asks me for money because she's rather poor.

Other than that i send money to contractors who are doing work at my parents old house that we rented out. In the past month alone ive sent over $1,500 to repair the bathrooms in the house. I use the western union app to send the money for the most part.

Edit: oh... I have sent money to chicks i fukk but probably just once or twice. Other than that they just want me to bring them shyt when i come home

Even though I love her folks, I love my girl and I see it as her parents taking advantage of her. She views it as a badge of honor to be able to take care of them because of the sacrifices they made for her and her brothers growing up.

That's custom. You looking at it through the wrong point of view.

This is tribal living. Keep each other afloat. It is draining and can be unfair but it isn't done to take advantage. Her parents would be offended for you to even suggest that. Bear in mind some people leave home with the goal/purpose of supporting their relatives to begin with.

Now with that said her brothers should be working. She should only look out for her parents for the most part.

Yeah this is quite normal, I'm Ghanaian as well, my mother used to send money back home to my grandmother, but since she passed she barely sends money. Maybe only for charity, or if someone in dire need
