There's a ton that could be shared, but I think these books will to any and everything else you read from then on. The good thing is they're all 100 pages or less. In order:
  1. "The Community of Self" -- Na'im Akbar
    • A holistic look at how you yourself are a 'community' (physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc), how to care for yourself and align these 'communities' to become a productive member of the community at large.
  2. "Breaking The Psychological Chains of Slavery"-- Na'im Akbar
    • Recognize the patterns and traumas slavery inflicted on us as a people, avoiding them and moving beyond them.
  3. "Decolonising the Mind" -- Ngugi Wa Thiong'o
    • This is a book by a Kenyan author on Colonial language in literary works, but I think the first part, which centers on colonial education is wildly important for us as diasporans when it comes to understanding how our language shapes our worldview.
  4. Know Thy Self" -- Na'im Akbar
    • Reviewing a bit of the deconstruction you may have done in the previous books, and learning foundational principles to reclaim and carry on.
