The story Will told about how he got the Fresh Prince role is classic. He was at Quincy's house to read for the part (which was a script for a Morris Day pilot that didn't get picked up). Will wanted to get some extra time to study the script and memorize it, but Quincy was telling him that if he comes back a week later, Brandon Tartikoff (the head of NBC at the time) will probably be busy with something else and reschedule. He was also there at the house. Will said that maybe they could do it in three weeks, and then Quincy said "Or you could take ten minutes and change your life right now."
They drew up a contract that same night and they were on set for the pilot three months later.
RIP to the most legendary Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. What a life and impact. Amazing.
Got to be in his presence a couple of times, endless stories and insights.
