This dude wasn't just short by freakish nba standards he was towered over by your average person

Hearing it like that is he 7" shorter than the avg male height and played 15 yrs in the league

Look him up. A lot of old school cats say he was the best high school basketball player they ever saw. He was the star of a Dunbar squad that was widely considered one of the best high school teams in history, with 7 D-1 players, 4 of whom made the league I think (Mugs, Reggie Williams, David Wingate, and Reggie Lewis, who was the 7th man on that team). I remember reading about how a lot of opposing point guards couldn't get it over half court without Mugsy rippin them and going in for a layup. He was absurdly fast and strong and talented.

Came to say this. Heard so much about that Dunbar h.s. team he was on growing up.
