How is a cable tv network going to compete for adds on music videos when the consumer can watch any video they want any time of day on YouTube?
On air personalities, guest appearances and performances. Countdowns to encourage viewer engagement. The market was there if they didn't abandon it. In this day and age it would definitely need to be available online within a small window tho.

Tv viewership drastically and constantly reducing, shortened attention spans and competition for YouTube/social media…

You think it’s coincidental that MTV/VH1/BET abandoned the format?

Music centric shows maybe.

They have 24/7 access to music stars and their consuming 15 second content. It’s over fam. Internet killed the video star

Not paying people is always more financially beneficial than paying people. Who's getting paid outside of Dyrdek's crew and a skeleton office crew?

Wow. I haven’t wanted to or turned to MTV in over 20 years.

Crazy to think but if you grew up in the 80s and 90s you know that MTV had great, even ground-breaking programming.

True Life, Scared Straight, Trl, early Real World, Daria, Aeon Flux, so many reasons to come in and turn the tv to MTV.

Now, smh. Teen Mom and Ridiculousness is all I ever see. Shame man. I only used to watch MTV, BET and Nicklelodeon maybe a smidge of Disney Channel as a kid…I barely watch tv now.

And yeah, I remember MTV news on the top of the hour and every 15 min…Kurt told me Biggie died, on a Saturday or Sunday i believe. I was watching with my lil sis smh
