Honestly, this feels like one of those quiet, subtle goodbyes. I remember when the Blockbuster Awards (remember those?) and Scream Awards (on Spike TV) both announced they were going on a sabbatical, but they were going to come back better than ever, and they never came back. This sort of feels like the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the MTV Movie Awards never did return to be honest.

Im surprised that MTV didn't pivot to the Internet/streaming era more seamlessly. It was an uphill battle but if you woulda asked me in the 90s and 2000s to give me a list of top 5 channels that would adapt to new viewing trends in the 2010s and 20s I woulda put MTV in my top 5.
