MTV Announces Unprecedented Expansion Of Hip-Hop Coverage Across All Channels | AllHipHop.com

Hip-Hop culture will get a boost in coverage thanks to a new programming initiative that was launched by MTV today (October 11).

MTV has announced plans to expand and unify Hip-Hop music coverage and content across all of its channels, under the MTV Jams brand name.

The goal is to extend the MTV Jams brand from its current, 24-hour digital channel, to all of MTV’s properties, including MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com.

The new programming initiative will see MTV2′s “Sucker Free Countdown” re-launched as “The Week in Jams,” starting on October 28.

“The Week in Jams” will include Hip-Hop lifestyle related content, from music and fashion, to sports and gossip.

In addition to the programming initiative, MTV is planning a series of tours throughout 2013 that will highlight a variety of artists who are featured in the new programming initiative.

I've always had love for MTV over other commercial media.
They always had good shyt going on and is a part of hiphops international expansion in the 90s.

Youtube did however kill their relevance as far as videos goes .

It's about time, they take their format back to the 90s when MTV was the channel for all thing GOAT in music.

Too bad these new :trash: artists aren't worthy of the screen presence. :pacspit:

Remebers a random white MTV journalist interviewing Bone Thugs in Cleveland or Pac's first interview out of all jail in the studio. :to:

fukking MTV...........Was down with hip-hop when it was cool, ditched music when it needed an outlet the most, and now that hip-hop is getting hot again they wanna stand close and get a little warm.

I see this as corporations trying to dictate what's good in hip-hop again cause they don't like the how rappers are making it without them. It's also less work for them cause they'll just wait till a rapper builds their own fanbase then pull a Jay-Z and act like they've been fukking with him from the start.

Or it could finally be cacs trying for the takeover of hip-hop like they've been trying to do for years.
