Rebels was critically acclaimed. Outside of a Leia and brief Luke cameo (the latter was a brief mention), the Skywalker's weren't in the show for it's four season run. It's very possible.
Thats a Skywalker tied in story, movie lived off that lore

New 'Star Wars' Movie in the Works With 'Sleight' Filmmaker (Exclusive)

star_wars_j.d._dillard_inset.jpg

Director J.D. Dillard and 'Luke Cage' writer Matt Owens have been tapped to develop a project, but it is unclear whether its a theatrical or Disney+ release.

As Lucasfilm maps out the next phase of Star Wars movies, executives are grappling with this question as development moves ahead: Which characters and stories justify theatrical releases and which should arrive exclusively on streaming platform Disney+?

The Hollywood Reporter learned Friday that a new Star Wars project is in the works: J.D. Dillard, best known for writing and directing the sci-fi thriller Sleight, and Matt Owens, a writer on Marvel shows Luke Cage and Agents of SHIELD, have been tapped to develop it. But insiders say it is undecided whether the project will be for the big screen or for the highly prioritized streaming platform.

Plot details, character details and setting details are unknown and are being kept in the murky underworld of Exegol. It is unclear whether Dillard would direct should the project move forward. The Dillard project is understood to be unrelated to a Star Wars film pitch by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and potential work from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

Star Wars: Project Luminous Finally Revealed
After months of teasing, Lucasfilm has finally revealed details about Star Wars Project Luminous. At a publishing event, Disney publishing confirmed that the new initiative is meant to fuel the fandom in the years waiting for the next theatrical chapter in the franchise. Tonya Agurto, SVP of Disney Publishing Worldwide, confirmed that, similarly to how the publishing arm of the franchise carried the interest of fans between the release of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, as it did between the release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, these new stories will unfold in previously unexplored corners of the galaxy far, far away.

Project Luminous is a new initiative taking place during the "High Republic" era, 200 years before the Skywalker Saga begins, with Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain noting this was "a golden time. A time of peace and prosperity. A time when the Jedi really are galactic guardians, stewards of peace and justice." The initiative was also described as the "Jedi Knights of the Round Table" at a time featuring "space Vikings."

The stories will be told through a number of comic books and novels published by Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, Marvel, and IDW Publishing. The writers involved include Cavan Scott (Star Wars Adventures), Claudia Gray (Star Wars: Master & Apprentice), Charles Soule ( Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith), Daniel José Older (Star Wars: Last Shot), and Justina Ireland (Star Wars: Lando’s Luck).

The idea for Project Luminous came from Siglain back in 2014 before progress officially began on the endeavor. He pitched the project and it has been in the making since 2018. The five authors involved in Project Luminous met at Skywalker Ranch in September 2018 to discuss the story with Lucasfilm Publishing editors and the Lucasfilm Story Group. They convened to discuss the project again in March 2019, a month before the project was announced to the public at Star Wars Celebration. At New York Comic Con last year, the Star Wars publishing panel hinted that this story would alter or reveal something new about the nature of the Force in a significant way.

Sounds like they're building their own new EU to expand on in future movies :lupe:

I want to see what happens with Rey Skywalker after RoS. Her story is far from over.

This all sounds terrible. Sleight wasn't a good movie and most of Luke cage is trash so I'm not excited and ole boy.

Secondly, this High Republic shyt is just a no for me

Luke with Cottonmouth on the show is classic television. without him? :patrice::ld:

They hurt the show by gutting the cast and giving all my sidekicks their own series instead being part of Luke Cage.
Jessica Jones and Iron Fist got spinoff series before even being featured in Luke Cage:gucci:

In fact they introduced Luke Cage in Jessica Jones :mindblown:

Should've been the other way around. Luke Cage first, Introduce Jessica Jones and Danny Rand in my show in followup seasons. Season 1 should've just been Luke Cage origin plus cottonmouth for the whole season. Then season 2 should have been the jessica jones , misty knight love triangle(Racial dynamics explored and Luke called out for bucking) with purple man as the villain. Season 3 should have introduced Danny Rand and did a Heroes for hire powerman , iron fist team up. Then they each get a spin off, before teaming up again as the defenders or something.

The way they did it was like introducing Iron Man in the 4th episode of a Pepper Potts tv show :camby:

Iron fist was failed character whose series was cancelled after 15 issues. Only became popular because of Luke Cage in the comics. Then they were surprised his solo series didn't work out on tv either:mjlol:

Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are not solo characters. They are Luke Cage sidekicks, just like Falcon and Winter Soldier are to Captain America. So in other words, i'm not mad at breh for thinking it was trash. They could made that series equal to daredevil. instead they made three lesser ones in order to have a fuller roster. Imagine doing the captain america movies without Falcon and Bucky.
