1. Contact- I've defended this movie on here before and will continue to do so :birdman:

2. Gattaca - pretty much forgotten outside of high school science classes. NASA named it the most "plausible" /realistic sci fi movie ever in 2011 :obama:

3. Black Swan - fairly highly regarded but in a year that had Inception, The Social Network, The Town, True Grit Toy story 3 etc, it might be my favorite:sas2:

in order to differentiate this from the "sh*tty movies you love" thread i'd say post movies that received lukewarm reviews, or even good reviews but have become slept on over the years

i fukking LOVE prometheus.

yea yea damon lindelof, i know, he can suck my dikk too but that flick was pure scifi goodness. visuals were fukking incredible. it's hard to convey in words but the tone of the movie was haunting to me, mysterious and intriguing. And fukk what you heard, Michael Fassbender is GOAT in that movie, and saved it from mediocrity imo. I think it would've been better with the Jon Spaights script as a direct prequel, and yea, they really fukked up there, but I still love that fukking movie, love the ancient astronaut shyt.

yea its hated on the internet, and I totally admit that some of the characters were dumb as fukk, but the scifi ideas were really dope, and even tho damon lindelof annoys me i liked that it made me think. we actually had a great discussion thread on thecoli where people were proposing different theories and stuff. Those are the type of movies I love (did the same shyt with inception)

1. Munich-many people haven't even seen it which is weird because I think its one of the most brilliant movies of the past 25 years...its easily the most underrated...such a powerful story not because of the internal plot, but the themes that apply to all levels of society...a film that haunts you and stays with you and solidified Spielberg as the second greatest director with atleast 2 PERFECT films (Coppola is first and Scorsese is 3rd)

2.The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford-Another slept on brilliant film that people just haven't watched. I will defend it like Munich to the death.

There are plenty more, but I wanted these 2 to get the shine they deserve for being brilliant...in my line of work, I find these films' themes to perfectly correlate the socioeconomic conditions of globalization, capitalism, racism, and inherent inequality in America and the world.
