That reasoning doesn't sound good. I was 5 when The Bodyguard came out. Never saw the movie, but I knew about the song years after it dropped. I knew it was iconic, and I didn't know it was from a movie until my teens.

Event sounds stupid if we're being honest. :ld:

This song and movie together did a lot. The movie made Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan two of the most famous people in the world, was Jay-Z's first ever genuine pop hit (this was the first single from Vol 2, Hard Knock Life followed this), and introduced the world to Ja Rule who would have his own crossover hit with "Holla, Holla" about six months later.
