I was thinking the same thing, then went to actually check the "most popular shows"
Most Popular TV Shows | TVGuide.com
Top 10:

2 Voice Not airing in the next 14 days
3 X Factor Not airing in the next 14 days
4 NCIS Thu, Jan 10 04:00 PM ET USA
5 Two and a Half Men Thu, Jan 10 06:00 PM ET FX
6 Person of Interest Thu, Jan 10 09:01 PM ET CBS

8 Modern Family Tue, Jan 15 08:00 PM ET ABC
9 Criminal Minds Not airing in the next 14 days
10 American Idol Wed, Jan 16 08:00 PM ET FOX

I thiink the issue is the demographics though. More young adults are watching MTV and such. Actually the fact that Bad Girls Club breaks top 50 worries me :(

The thing is couple TV with Music and you have a very powerful mind altering mechanism.

Oh wow
Top Ratings for Classic TV - Old TV Show Ratings - 70s

So you can see what the top shows were year over year going back several decades....

I was going to make the point that "back in the day" shows were more "wholesome"...and i could still make the argument to a degree, however; looking year over year one things is pretty consistent.

A. We like guns
B. We like courtroom drama
C. We like watching the lives of others

Given these three things our evolution towards the depraved reality show shyt we see now was destined IMHO. The scary thing is it's only getting worse and has progressivley gotten worse year over year.

Honestly do yourselves a favor and turn off the damn tv :(

The bigger problem is the kids watching this shyt.

I've said for years it disgusts me that the phrase "baby daddy" (poor grammar and all) has become part of people's lexicon.
Yes, I hate that phrase. It's ironic as shyt and ignorant.

Seems like the term "baby father" would be the operative term, but I guess the song wouldnt sound right then, huh?

Baby daddy comes off as someone being a deadbeat and or unhealthy relationship with the mother, this is not really a daddy but just a father.

Daddy is a term of endearment used by the child/mother. But a father is somebody everyone has.

And I have to explain that shyt anytime someone gets cute(usually white people) and calls me a baby daddy.

Here in rests the corruption of hip hop culture. (yeah @BarNone watch as I completely make this a social commentary).

Hip hop once had meaning. It was a reflection of life. (art imitates life). Once it went mainstream it was a caricature of situations chosen for entertainment value. Once you start creating situations because they look cool or sound funny or trendy you lose the actual meaning and value. Even in teh cases where the value remains, it's not often perceived that way by viewers.

Take for instance Tu Pac. When some people listen to Dear Momma, they hear music, they hear a good beat with words sung by a thug. Others who can relate and or even have the wherewithal to understand the relationship between a crack mother and her children, one of love and hate, of loyalty and distrust see it as a poem in every sense of the word.

So on one hand you have entertainment and art. Sometimes they are the same thing, sometimes they are not. When people confuse the two is when things get dangerous. Reason being is that while Dear Momma was a reflection of life, Babies Mamma, is a perversion and exploitation of life for entertainment and money.

:ehh: I'll probably DVR a few episodes to see what its about....

I'm just not as bothered as all these other black people that complain anytime a show comes out about how "we" are being portrayed..

The Cobsy Show was dope, but they didn't represent me or my family's life one bit, so it also swings the other way when it comes to these shows that show black people in a negative light.

But then again I just watch TV to be entertained so :manny:
