legally speaking pepper spraying people is assault with a deadly weapon if you aren't actually doing it to defend yourself.
Too many people think they can just pepper spray someone they would you would flip a bird during an argument.
Under the right circumstances a person might be able to shoot you in self defense legally as a response, assuming its not viewed as retaliation.

I'm going to go ahead and say it.
I would shoot someone if they pepper sprayed me. If someone does something that fukks with my senses and causes me pain, I'm going to go into fight or flight mode. If I have a gun, that equals bullets getting fired.
I don't feel sorry her. At most, her son was buying vapes from his peers. She felt comfortable doing it because they were a bunch of kids. If she behaved like most responsible adults who wouldn't use violence as their go to response on children, she wouldn't have found out that they're not toothless.

If headline read "man attempted to chloroform some kids and got shot," nobody would be feeling sorry for him. just because pepper spray has self defense applications doesn't make it any less of a chemical weapon the affects the senses. They had a right to defend themselves

I remember a comedian saying he is better off carrying a gun than pepper spray, because with pepper spray he is overly tempted to use it even when not justified because its non lethal. Versus a gun when you know you only going to pull it out in a life or death situation
