This is why you're supposed to teach gun safety and etiquette to KIDS. It's how it used to be in the olden days. Back then, it was not uncommon for kids in the rural US to bring their guns to school either.

Lotta people today think guns should be kept away from kids outright but that's counterproductive. You gotta tell your really young kids what guns are, what they do, what the consequences are, and WHY they shouldn't fool around with it.

Then when they get a little older you gotta hand them an unloaded gun and teach them everything about it. First of all, you're teaching them gun safety and functionality. Second, you getting that curiosity factor out of their heads.

Probably the dumbest post I've ever read on an internet forum in over a decade.

the kid was 6. they are not protecting their ranch from wolves my guy :dead: this parent isn't capable of shyt and that's exactly why holding parents accountable with jail time and loss of custody is the kick in the ass the public needs

I'm not going to argue with any of you. Raise your kids how you want to. :patrice:If you think you're going to treat guns the same way you treat drugs and sex and come out with different results, then good luck to ya. :skip:

I'm a believer in deterrence through education and a believer in harm reduction.

And no, I didn't say bring your guns to school. Just that it used to be acceptable in the pre-Color TV era in many areas. If you were a gunowner you're supposed to familiarize it to your kids, both its uses and dangers. Governor Reagan started the gun-phobia era... Then President Reagan started the mental-health crises era... and the drug-crisis era... and the healthcare-cost crisis era.

I didn't say otherwise. But when you teach your kids about the good and bad about guns, it prevents shyt like this from happening.

No amount of jail time is going to affect the next kid from stealing their parent's or sibling's gun. The next kid don't give a shyt about someone else's folks doing time over it.

Complete misrepresentation of what I said. But you already knew that.
