why are some surprised that Kanye did "Dog's out" for dmx?? That's kanye all day and probably one of his older beats before he had a defining moment using those DRE XXPLOSIVE drums earlier in his career. I bet y'all forgot that Kanye produced this banger for Jermaine Dupri and Nas

what really surprised me as far as production goes was "Trouble on my mind", didn't sound like a neptunes production to me but then kind of made sense once i thought about it

Tru Master producing for Busta.

The beat itself sounds like vintage Wu-element shyt so it's not surprising from that perspective but it was crazy to me that Tru Master got a placement on a Busta album and makes me wish that him and cats like 4th Disciple got more work outside of the Wu, especially seeing as most of the main Wu members weren't using them much anyway around this time.

I knew they made the beat from the get go...but i was surprised at how they stepped out of their regular sound. That's when I knew most producers were well faceted...its just that artists come to them for the trademark sound

This. As a producer you get bored making the same ol' sound and want to challenge yourself from a creative standpoint to make other stuff. Plus, music inspires us all so you might hear something and want to do your own take on it.

When I made beats I was known for soul samples. Nobody wanted to hear my other shyt. They'd be like "Yeah that's cool. But make me a beat like you did for so and so."

That's the tradeoff for having a signature sound.

Timbaland producing Jay Z's "Heaven" was a shocker. It's pretty much a looped sample, but still, it's not a sound that I'd associate with Timbaland. Then to top it off, Justin Timberlake is featured on it. I thought it was a sample at first.

Hi Tek doing the beat on 50 Cent's "Get In My Car" and The Game's "Runnin" were surprising as well.

still a bit in shock that DJ Premier did this beat, he needs to hook up with Devin for a whole album if this is the result

Wait a minute... what?! I didn't know that
Heavy D feel it in the air for Beanie Sigel
Kanye West poppa was a playa for Nas
True Master Fish for Ghostface killah. Only non RZA produced track on Ironman
heavy d did feel it in the aie? Wow didn't know that. Also, that's quite surprising rza didn't produce fish. That's the best beat on the album
