That wont really be determined until Drake's new album. If it flops and its trash, then we gonna be having some discussions

That won't be due to Kendrick ending him though. Drake's been dropping trash. IMO, Scorpion was his last good album. In terms of a flop, he's due one because of the quality. And really, wasn't that Nevermind project perceived as a flop?

Pop smoke, x, and Juice had huge followings before their deaths

Not going to look up numbers before to back this up

all I know is there’s a shyt ton of other rappers that are dead from this generation that nobody cares about

Pop Smoke release did 85 first week when he was alive. 251,000 first week for Posthumous album

Anyone who truly thought Drake was going anywhere is just as delusional

He got beat up. It’s not that big of a deal like wtf :mjlol:

He’ll bounce back. He’s not Diddy

Drake is going to need a Stillmatic or Mama Said Knock You Out to bounce back. He lacks the growth and the depth to accomplish that IMO. Besides, Drake is like 15 years since So Far Gone. A hot song or even a good diss record isn't going to help him. People are tired of Drake. His old music will be streamed, but new music from him isn't going to be what it was without him dropping a project that's undeniably great.

Drake makes contemporary elevator/hold music. Largely mindless drivel so the morons of today can pretend they're influencers when they get off work and run to Instagram to try and curate their presented lives.

how’s that disprove my point though? They all had followings before their deaths. Just because X wasn’t number 1 before that time doesn’t mean anything. That article said his songs were top ten on billboard but Jay z was aiming to take the top spot before X death.

A rapper who’s been around for 20 years compared to a rapper who was only 20.

The other posters point was guys like juice and x had next which is true…. They were on the come up lol

Rappers die all the time, make the charts and disappear.

Maybe all the new listeners after their deaths sticking around is a testament to talent and potential

There's no such thing as a career ending diss

Both sides of this argument dumb as shyt. Yayyy the biggest rapper in the world has the most streams... dumbasses
My problem is Drake is the biggest rapper of the world yet somehow all his music is “trash” and everyone claims to not listen to him

Lemme guess cacs huh just like every other rapper that exist that isn’t Nas

:russ:Nobody was ever going to lose their careers losing that battle. They’ll only have a permanent L on their resumes. Drake will continue to do numbers, but also be reminded of that ass whooping.

The fact he is doing more listens than Eminem who just put out his album is crazy.
Honestly, outside Houdini, Eminem's album just isn't that accessible.

It reminds me of Relapse in the sense that he had a single meant for the radio(We Made You) but the rest of the album is just raw and conceptual.

:patrice:

It definitely hurt him, but Murder Inc. getting shut down by the feds is really what did it.

Ja was mostly seen as a corny pop rapper that kept dropping wacker versions of the same type of single. Audience was already getting sick of him before the beef really popped off. And the R.U.L.E. album was a solid comeback. New York was the first big street oriented hit he had in a long time. But the arraignment happened like 3 months after that album dropped and that was a wrap for all of em.
