How was I wrong? Black People do love Symbolism. Do I have to say "NOT ALL" after every statement. Of course not all, but too many.
Black People love Obama because he's Symbolism, not because he's going to help us. We need substance, action, not pictures and false prophets. .

Part of the reason we're still spinning our wheels in this current racial climate is because many of us don't understand that there has to be strategy beyond the symbolic gestures that involve action. It's like Umar said in that BC interview, many of us view the protest as the end goal rather than as our declaration of our grievances.
As far as these photos, they're incredible. But we shouldn't take a victory lap at the symbolism of graduating Brothers because just being educated isn't enough anymore. We have to be ready for the reality that our graduates are entering a pitiful job market where whites don't want or can't afford to have you on the payroll anymore.

For one, this didn't answer my question about how I am a c00n in response to your earlier statement. All of you need to stop throwing that shyt around for anything and everything. I hate blanket statements like that, it's lazy for folks to cast such a large net like that while realizing it's not completely true.
Secondly, I don't necessarily disagree with your point..to the contrary, For example..I personally think that having a college education has been looked at as symbolic in that "just having a degree" is significant to the point where the actual education from it isn't utilized properly or for a purpose.
The skills we acquire are generally used to enrich white institutions and corporations while neglecting to provide anything tangible to our people. We have more educated black people than ever..we could literally build our own separate, prosperous society with our own hands but we vest our hopes in a President or government that has done nothing for us. I could go on and on...
Gotta salute this as an alum.
My family has had at least one male member out of every generation come out of Morehouse since it was Atlanta Baptist College back in the late 1800s.
My uncle went to Morehouse with Spike Lee and Samuel L Jackson.
