I sympathize with the Eurocacs a little bit because I understand where they're coming from having spent some time in Europe (a few months). I've met / chilled with a significant amount of Eurocacs who I would think were otherwise "liberal" outside of how they viewed Muslim immigration. I firmly believe that, for a lot of them, it's fundamentally a values and culture question rather than a race / ethnicity question. Here in the US, things haven't turned that corner in terms of liberals having an issue with Islam, but were we to deal with some of the same things folks in Europe do, I think we would.

As a religion, Islam as practiced today is especially...pervasive, I suppose, is the word. You have the hijab, the nijab, burka, etc. You have minarets. You have calls for prayer everyday. These things do not blend well with Christian-based society, and there's going to be friction when Muslims expect these kind of things to be folded into a Christian-based society seamlessly, which is often the case. I think Eurocacs have every right to reject that culture, and reject that culture's creeping influence. Mainstream Islam does not seem to have reached that point where its practitioners are accepting of secular government, etc.
