"The Game" lied about playing basketball on scholarship at WSU before allegedly being kicked out for dealing drugs

For about the past 15 years there has been a persistent rumor that Jayceon Taylor otherwise known as rap star "The Game" played basketball on scholarship at WSU before allegedly being kicked out for dealing drugs. This has pretty much reported as fact by several websites that rank the best athlete/entertainers. There are even websites that list him as one of WSU's most famous alumni. But is this rumor actually true?

As far as I can tell, the rumor dates back to the Game's first feature in Rolling Stone magazine where he told a reporter the story about his abbreviated time in Pullman. This was never backed up with any factual information by the magazine. In a 2008 story by the Tacoma News Tribune, however, the university denies that he was ever part of the basketball program and the drug charges. In addition, Taylor's name does not show up in any article from that time regarding basketball recruiting. Recruiting was not as followed as closely as now in the media, but there was still quite of a bit of information out there. The one link that I can see with Taylor and WSU is that former Cougar Marcus Moore played for the same high school team as Taylor(Compton Dominguez) and that Taylor may or may not have joined the four star recruit in Pullman. Deadspin was skeptical as well in a 2014 article.

Alright, now we're getting into more speculative territory. Game, like Rick Ross, is infamous for the tenuous connection facts have to his self-styled history. To hear him tell it, he was a baller in high school and got a scholarship to Washington State. His career was cut short, though, when he was kicked off the team first semester after being caught with drugs.

Allegedly. In a now-dead link on Wikipedia, Washington State denied ever enrolling a Jayceon Taylor. It didn't deny the offer, though, so who knows what really happened. At the very least, he was good enough to start for a Dominguez High team that fielded Tayshaun Prince and Tyson Chandler, and from videos of him hooping today he still has game. All of that plus his size has me believing he could have been a Division I-quality player.

Unfortunately, based on the information that I can see I'm going to have to conclude that this rumor is most likely false. The Cougar Nation probably can't claim a member of the G-Unit as one of our most famous alumni.

The Game caught sliding in 16 year old girls DM's on Instagram

The 37-year-old has apparently been sending messages to a 16-year-old girl via her social media.

I know it’s easy when you’re a famous musician to lose control of all the messages you’re sending, but maybe the fact her profile said ‘16’ on it next to her name was a bit of a give away?

Anyway, the ‘model’s’ social media profile on her Instagram account has it pretty much clearly stated: ‘Kenza 16’.

Of course it might mean something else… how many modelling jobs she’s had, how many days until her holiday, but I’m going to go with the fact it’s probably her age.

Early in 2010, Bow Wow's mom joined Twitter. She then proceeded to do what moms have done throughout time—say stuff that embarrasses their kids.

Bow Wow said he was going to make his mom delete her account. And then it all went wrong. Fans were clearly on her side, rather than his. Finally, desperate, he said he would delete his own account unless his mom got rid of hers. And she responded in a thread-killing, quietly vicious, perfectly mom-like way.

In early 2014, Bow Wow was in Los Angeles for Grammy weekend. He drove around in a Ferrari, and made sure to post plenty of pictures to social media of himself in the driver's seat. The captions implied that the car was his.

Well, the rental car company didn't exactly appreciate that. They decided to claim some credit, and give Bow Wow another round of bad press in the process.

Joe Budden's then girlfriend Tahiry got punched in the face at a bar and she claimed he didn't do anything. Her eye is marked up 1:00 mark. He puts her on camera.

When Cassidy Said Jay Z Dropping An Album The Same Day As Him Wasn’t A Smart Decision | #Never Forget

The year was 2007 and Jay Z had the streets back in his palm with his single “Blue Magic.” His album American Gangster was set for a November 6 release which was the same date as Cassidy’s B.A.R.S. was schedule to hit stores, and Cass thought this was a bad idea.

After coming home from prison, surviving a near fatal car accident and bringing his career back to life with the jiggy tune “My Drink N My Two Step,” Cassidy was feeling very confident.

At the same time Jay Z was crafting a comeback as his previous LP, Kingdom Come, didn’t live up to the hype. American Gangster was framed as his return to his Reasonable Doubt days to parallel the Denzel Washington movie of the same name.

This led to both of their albums being released on the same date and for some reason the little little homey felt like he was bigger than the moment.

In an interview with SOHH, the Philadelphia native advised the mogul on how to proceed. “I think right now with the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is popping, I don’t think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on Nov. 6th.”

Yes, you read that right. Cassidy was advising Jay Z on how to plan out his album release. He even hinted that Jigga’s place in Rap was fading. “It ain’t like when Vol. 1 or Vol.2 dropped. It’s a lot different,” he added.

Well “The Hustla” proved to be hustling backwards with the slick talk when the Soundscan numbers came back. Landing at the number one spot of the Top 200 Billboard charts was American Gangster with 425,861 copies sold.

Meanwhile, Cassidy’s B.A.R.S. debuted at #10 with a respectable 63,000.

Hopefully a lesson was learned here, but now we remember this is the same guy who thought remaking PSY’s “Gangham Style” was a good look.
