Run DMC. Whatever gimmick was moving they hopped on it, from rock rappers to ONYX Uncles to the G-Funk era. One of a handful of undeniable legends and pioneers that I could give a fukk less about and have never listened to an album in full by them. Oddly enough I have the utmost respect for JMJ though.

Weird take, especially the rock-rap part when they were pretty much the template of that.

Well that's what I'm saying, they started out as rock rap and then all of sudden they're acting like Onyx on a basketball court or dressed up like a Priest trying to rap fast like Flesh N Bone.

It's not really biting, more homage, but I always like when Nas gets into his Biggie bag with the flow, he's done it several other times besides on here.

So they were supposed to still be making 1985-type songs in the mid-90s?

And they didn't start as "rock rap", they did all types of songs from the start. I didn't even like those '90s shyts you're referring to... but them being biters or rip-off artists is quite a reach.

Like I said, I never heard a full project from them and my knowledge on the actual music they put out doesn't extend too far past their videos and singles, so I could be way off, but based on what I've seen Run and DMC seem to be style hoppers.

I have a lot of takes that seem to leave ppl puzzled or angry, and I'm not trying to diminish the place these guys have as legends or whatever but a lot of ppls favorites are just not for me.

Run DMC, Tribe, Beastie Boys and a few other legendary acts I just got no use for. Never sat down to listen to a full project from any of them and what I've heard I did not enjoy.

Edit : I probably have heard most of Beats, Rhymes, Life (not in one sitting) and can say I found a lot of the songs tolerable to even enjoyable, but all that misplaced wallet bonita applebaum "classics" I got no use for.

Oh yeah, I always hated De La Soul too.
