Nine predates DMX and always sounded like that. He just used to rap over early to mid 90s hype NYC beats with more swing, but that's what they were on.

I bought the tape as soon as I saw the video on Rap City.
Thug Addict was that nikka - not sure if it's on YouTube but "shyt Bad In Louisiana" is a classic.
