I'm more convinced than ever that if I had a "black" name I wouldn't be working in the corporate world.

My resume would have been thrown in the trash can as soon as the hiring manager saw a Tyron or some other sh!t.

I'm seeing a pattern in the company...all the black folks(4) who work here don't have black names.... I'm not saying they are racist but people will hide behind any reason not to hire someone.

This is somewhat true, but I work in health care and one of the people that we work with has a name that starts with "La", so the name doesn't always stop one from getting a corporate gig. Hell, now that I think about it, the other black dude that used to be in my dept is named Shamar, so maybe this theory holds no weight. and that nikka got promoted like twice already.

Most people from the central part of Ghana, have English names just like Jamaicans because of the slave trade.

Yes, I think its true too. I have a normal name and so did the other black workers at my old job. They dont care if you work at a place like applebees (like me). But most black people who name their kids things like Da'Kwon Lee Jones arent like most families who like things like education, working for a living, just normal ppl.
