I think the title is on to something though

As with anything people 'reason' out there's personal psychology part to it

I'm beginning to think a lot of people are just not going to be comfortable with a worldview that contains no afterlife.

2 thirds of this nation and probably the majority of the world read their horoscope everyday and believe that some vague daily script can predict their weekly fortunes.

They also believe that Aries people or Leos behave in a predictable manner. It has nothing to being comfortable with something. It's plain ignorance, and it's these types of Spiritual or intangible cosmological theories that are persuasive to those who don't think things through.

that's my point though breh. People like you or me want to break it down like that because we're 'spiritually comfortable' in a way. The fact that my uncle died and went nowhere or that I will die and go nowhere or that the guy who wronged me and got away with it won't face a final judgement, we can live with that. Can everyone? I'm not sure. That doesn't mean we have to support every theological system out there I'm just saying that our personal predilections affect what ideas we favor.
