Mosley: In Their Prime, De La Hoya Better Than Mayweather

“In his prime, definitely I would say Oscar was better,” Mosley said to Yahoo Sports. “He was more physical and faster, and he had more punching power.”

Early in his career, Mosley had discussed the idea of fighting Mayweather - and this was at a time when Mosley was fighting at lightweight and Mayweather was at super featherweight.

By the time they actually fought in 2010, Mosley was 38-years-old and they were both competing as welterweights.

Mosley feels that he could have beaten Mayweather - had they fought when the two of them were competing in the lower weight divisions.

“I thought I was too strong for Mayweather and too fast,” Mosley said. “I had too many different weapons that he couldn’t get out of the way of. He couldn’t get out of the way of a lot of those shots because I would have been throwing a lot more shots [than I did when we fought]. I would have been constantly pressuring him and being on him," Mosley said.

“Look, Mayweather is a great fighter and you can’t take that from him. In his era, he did really good. I believe I would have been able to beat him had it been a different time, but I don’t take anything away from him. He was undefeated and he beat everyone he needed to beat. He was the king of his era.”

It doesn't matter if he had more punching power.. if you can't hit him you can't hurt him.

Not sure what Mosley talking about. He's talking about how he could've beaten Mayweather.. but he didn't.
He's talking about how De La Hoya was better than Mayweather.. but he didn't beat him.

And then he says "he did really good". I think Mayweather did a little better than "really good". He's 50-0. 49-0 if you don't count the McGregor fight.

Mosley comes off looking like he's tap dancing for De La Hoya and is still jealous and bitter..

I don’t agree but I will say I would’ve loved to see Mayweather vs De La Hoya at LW. Both were beasts at 130.

The thing is though while I disagree with him it’s not like what he’s saying is actually unreasonable.

Mosley is bitter and got man handled for 11 rounds by Floyd, after he asked for the fight.

Dude became pathetic towards the end of his career.

Mosley v floyd in their primes qould have been special and I do think shane would have.won.
oh, well he wouldn't have
he also had the chance to lace up the gloves in 2006 and he turned it down
he never brings it up for some reason...

and his fight against cheato is arguably the best fight of his career..

Shane wasnt in his prime in 2006. You are a boxing casual if you think the Margo fight was his best fight as well.

Best version of Shane was at lightweight. It would have been amazing to see floyd and shane fight at lightweight.

Best shane fight to me was the jesse james leija fight. I remember that like yesterday
