If you battle Shang Tsung it's already a losing battle. You can only beat him by beating yourself. If you win you will always feel like you betrayed a a mother/sister/brother . Goro comes in and has hands and feet for you after being divided by inner conflict.

Maybe the only way to win is to merge and go inside him. Or does he go inside you?

now to try and understand what capitol posted. I think God of War is related to this conflict because if the buddhists think Raiden (the electric world) is a God then God of War is also a projection of Raiden (or a prophecy about Raiden...)
