2. Ed Boon thinks timelines and the multiverse is still a cool concept

Hey it can be. MK9 was what got me back into MK after 3.

The reason it worked in MK9 is because they were retelling 1-3. The MK1 story should've been a mix of MK1 & MK2 fighters arriving on Shang Tsung's island for their first tournament, then the different outcomes would shape the next MK game.
