Collectively, Black men as a group are largely ignorant about politics, power dynamics, and economics. We have no permanent friends ONLY permanent interests. Blacks are dissatisfied with democrats throwing black under the bus to support immigrants and LGBT, but that doesn't me just jumping to the right side. Jumping to the right side ONLY works if we can play democrats and republicans against each other to get some out of it. Too many black men want to exercise meritorious manumission instead of working to gain power and economic to take control of society from white men.

Completely right though, would be interesting to see what priorities and policies rise to the top if we had a series of debates and conferences before elections with the express purpose of reaching some type of compromise between young, old, rich and poor. So we can take a few core issues and present them together to non voters and the politically uneducated.

Black people have aligned with pro-civil rights liberal and progressive parties, candidates, ideologies since....forever. We have never been conservative. Ever.

We voted Democrat because their policy platform aligns with our interests in just about every bullet point. From taxes to economics to criminal justice reform to civil rights to education to everything. Not because of "pandering." We reject the Republican party and right wing, anti-civil rights conservatism because low taxes for rich people and white christian fundamentalism has been the sworn enemy of black power in this country forever. Much more than "white liberals", gays or immigrants as much as yall love your contrarian fanatsies. The idea that black people are too stupid to weigh and make their own political choices and are beign "fooled" by their party and their ideology of choice, liberalism, is classic dogshyt O'Reilly Factor right wing talking points and I cant believe this shyt is now being adapted in "pro-black" circles.

No we have not found all the means to adapt right wing economics and be "left alone." By and large our children, schools, and communities lag tremendously behind others. Their is still a need for systemic policy in order to reverse systemic failures in our school and our communities and make systemic improvements. And conservatives have NO interest in investing in those policies or even acknowledging it. Liberals...including many Democrats in Congress...are the ones fighting for these policies.

What do Democrats offer over Republicans? Damn near everything. Im not even gonna entertain this.

So if conservatism is so good, why aren't these black folks voting for these policies? What enlightenment he has have that these people dont have ?

You're not completely wrong. Personally I'm conservative on border issues but left or liberal on everything else. I think Democrats would be wise to realize not everyone is who votes Democratic is liberal on everything and understand where they need to be more conservative on certain issues.

If you ask people on the border if they're doing enough on immigration, it's a hell no. But I understand what you're saying and you're not wrong but I'm not one of those people who says shyt like that. I'm a proud Democratic supporter and will always support them even if their policies don't 100% align with mine because I know that they are trying to make the country better even if it happens incrementally. The people who you're talking about lack any sort of nuance or context.

What are you guys experiencing that's causing you to become more socially conservative? I mean, I do everything that's in bold already, and I don't like feel my personal life is being encroached upon by the government.

I'm a progressive but I can understand the mindset that leads people to become more socially conservative. When you're younger you have alot of ideas on how the country can be changed for the better, but then you get older and start realizing just how broken our government is and how inefficient it is at damn near everything it does except locking people up and bombing 3rd world countries.

Eventually people come to the realization that the government is fukked, the politicians are corrupt, and there's probably nothing you can do about it. You start feeling like the government should just stay outta peoples business since they can't seem to do anything right, that's when the small government arguments comes in.

We only voted Democrat because they pandered to us, while the Republicans were on some pull yourself up by your boot straps shyt.

Well, we have the means to pull ourselves up now, so we don’t need to be pandered to.

When you break it down to that, what do the Democrats offer over the Republicans?

I can see why you would vote more liberal if you’re gay or an immigrant, but for the average ADOS, the only difference we see is one will lie to our face while stabbing us in the back, the other comes with his sword and shield in front, like this is what it is, compete or die.

We respect the latter way more than the former.

Historically Democrats during and after the Civil Rights movement were the better party for us. The problem came with Bill Clinton. He made the dramatic shift to appeal to white voters who were pissed about civil rights by boxing out Republicans on 2 key issues, crime and welfare. He pushed the crime bill and ended welfare (AFDC specifically) as a wink to white racists to show he was different from the Democrats of the past. We made a crucial mistake politically to support him (and Obama in that regard) despite how much harm he did to our community with those policies. Dems overall have been moving farther to the right ever since which causes the extreme version of Republicans you see today.
