LEBRON LEGACY ON THE LINE..
we really about to see what miami made of in game 4. if they lose this one, you know it's a wrap. i expect wade to step up regardless of his "injury".
Ozzie Guillen's self-imposed probation stemming from April's five-game suspension doesn't extend to sensitivities involving the struggles of Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat.
A day after having vowed to be done with Twitter, the outspoken manager wasn't backing off his shoot-from-the-hip style of expression, saying Wade's behavior toward Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during a Thursday loss "can guarantee a fight."
"I will kick his ass," Guillen told reporters Friday. "Well, I won't say I'll kick his ass. They'll kick my ass because they're bigger than me, and I'm older. But I will take my chances. Some people have to understand our job."
The Miami Marlins' manager, barely a month removed from a team ban stemming from pro-Fidel Castro comments in which he praised the former Cuban dictator's ability to stay in power, stood in stark contrast to Spoelstra's take on the sideline event.
Spoelstra said confrontations like those are routine during intense moments in games and practices.
But count Guillen among those who vehemently disagree, at least from a baseball perspective.
"That's disrespectful. Why he's saying it, when he said it, that's none of my business," Guillen said. "But the player come out and say something [like that to me], he will guarantee a fight."
Wade was held scoreless in the first half of Game 3 and finished with just five points and five turnovers in 37 minutes during a 94-75 loss to the Pacers, dropping Miami into a 2-1 series deficit entering Game 4 on Sunday.
Wade's frustration boiled over in the third quarter when he got into a heated exchange with Spoelstra during a timeout. Wade and Spoelstra came face-to-face briefly, and Wade was then restrained by forward Udonis Haslem.
"You know how many players I take out of the game and they go in the back and talk crap about me?" Guillen said.
"I don't care because I'm going to talk crap about them. If I take you out of the game it's for a reason. You think I want to take you out of the game? You think I want to pinch-hit for you? I pinch-hit for you because you suck. There's somebody else I thought was better than you."
Last month, upon returning from the five-game ban, Guillen said he was putting himself on probation, but added winning would help overcome controversial comments made off the field.
"It's probation about growing up and being better, and be careful to not trust too many people," Guillen said. "That was my problem."
Players Pulling For Indiana Over Miami: During last year’s NBA Finals, players from around the league were pulling for the Dallas Mavericks and showing their support by sending encouraging text messages to the team. Like many fans, there were players from a wide variety of teams rooting against the Miami HEAT. After winning the title, Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle confirmed that there were many people hoping that Dallas would eliminate Miami.
“I’m so proud of what our team stood for,” Carlisle said after winning the title. “I kept having people come up to me the last three or four days, ‘Hey, there’s billions of people rooting for you guys.’ And we could feel it. We could feel it.”
The Indiana Pacers can feel it as well.
Around the league, there are plenty of players who take pleasure in watching Miami lose. Entering this series, nobody gave Indiana a shot. George Hill said that he didn’t get any of those text messages from players because nobody thought they’d manage to win a game. Now, with the Pacers leading the series 2-1, support is pouring in.
“I have friends around the league who have told me to be aggressive and have encouraged me to play my game,” Paul George said. “I guess that’s their way of saying, ‘Take down Miami.’”
One player, who chose to remain anonymous, texted: “No one likes or respects the Heat.”
The majority of basketball fans are hoping Indiana can upset Miami and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. They aren’t alone, with a large number of players hoping for the same result.
