On Durants last play, he got called for a charge and had stepped on Faried's foot.. could have easily turned an ankle. There was a game earlier in the year where Durant was in after the game was basically settled, and had a collision or got tripped up. I don't think it bothered KD to be taken out 2 points short of a 20 point game. There will be games where he won't score as much because the game will be decided, it was probably going to end sometime this year anyway.
