Well, they have the option...I think they will just stay together and continue the infighting until world ends...division makes easier for Israel and the West to control whoever is ruling because you can always use each side's enemies from within to overthrow the leader.

Assad has a larger military for one and Kaddafi Military didn't have time to analyze the situation. The claims of protest in Libya were Feb 17th( which the killing of began 2 days before that) but by end of that week...the so called protesters had already been shooting and killing police officers and going after the Military( Black Ones especially).
