What has the better chance of happening in our life time?

A 6'9" pure point guard that leads an up tempo offense and averages 13 assists with the ability to score 20 everynight....

or

A 6'4" post up power forward that can average 13 boards and score 25 on every given night...

We'll see 10 Magics before another Barkley. 7 footers don't even bang like that anymore, let alone a chubby 6'4" athletic freak...

You're more likely to see a six foot nine cat wanting to play like Magic than a six four dude tryna play like Chuck.

The first and its not even close. Young'ins nowadays...(I say that like Im :flabbynsick: and aint young myself :heh: but I digress)...anyways young ppl nowadays aint tryna bang in the post. If you got nikkas who are 6'9+ tryna dribble and be guards (Nowitzki, KD, Josh Smith, etc) what makes you think someone 6'6 (let alone 6'4) would want to try and be a post up PF.

I see what yall are saying and agree with the premise.. But it's not just about wanting to play like Magic...It's actually being that effective...

Valid points though :ehh:

Barkley is probably the last unique talent in our life time when you take into account measurables....

Having said that we still haven't seen another Magic and he's been retired for 20 years....

Its Magic, not even a doubt in my mind.

Barkley is the most unique player in NBA history. There was not a Barkley before, and I highly doubt there would be one after him. 6'4" superstar power forward who was strong as two bulls, with freak athleticism, super long arms, and played mostly in the post? Those players dont exist.

We've seen 6'8 players with passing skills similar to Magic's before. Lebron and McGrady.

My only problem with Barkley was that his defense was god awful. And it hurts worse because he's a big man.

Magic easily. Just look at Bron. Just look at this generation of 6'9 and up nikkas who wanna handle the rock and shyt. As others have said I highly doubt we will see a guy with Barkley's height and build do the things that he did ever again.

And people will bring up Penny aswell... But his career high in assist was 7 a game.. And that was with playing with Shaq and Dennis Scott...Magic would have damn near doubled that number while still scoring at a similar rate...

People talk about the unique nature of Barkley's game and I agree... But nobody over 6'5" has led the league in assists since Magic did 25 years ago...There have been a lot of people "trying" to be Magic (word to Walt Williams) but the success just hasn't been there..

the thing is those people can do poor imitations of Magic, who has done a poor Barkley imitation?

also :salute: to shouting out Walt Williams.

You gotta look at the offense and supporting casts as well. That Orlando team didn't run like those Lakers. Not too many teams since those Lakers have run like that. You put Bron in PHX in 04 instead of Nash with Antoni and JJ, Marion, and Amare and I think he could've come close.

The fact that you have more nikkas trying to be Magic only ups the chances that we will see another one. When is the last time we saw a 6'5 chubby nikka playing the 4?
