The Indian side of my family is from Guyana and they generally have a sense of resentment and distrust of white people just like many black people do. Probably because there previous generations were brought over from India as indentured servants (slaves) for white people. [/IMG]

Mine too man, both sides of my family :sadcam::sadcam::sadcam:

I knew there was a reason we got along :myman:

:manny: its not like indian fathers are good even if they do stick around really. most of them are good providers, but poor at teaching their children skills and spending time with them. I have never seen an indian father who shows up to their kids activities and shyt to cheer them on. I've never heard of one who shows their kid how to do something or help them with homework or anything..

One of my biggest life goals is to exceed my father as a father and teach and nurture my children. My dad was a great provider, but as far as an actual parent he was just never too good at it.

Those indian communities were always kinda hostile to me too, especially when i got into better schools than them (:youngsabo:)

The fukked up thing is my father actually was a good father when he wasn't on that liquor. It was literally Jekyl and Hyde with that dude. That bottle is a motherfukker.

Probably because their previous generations were brought over from India as indentured servants (slaves) for white people. They grew up dirt poor alongside blacks there. None of my aunts and uncles (there's plenty of them) really fukk with white people. Some of them, like my dad, married blacks. There is that element of elevating light skin, but hey, many blacks are the same way. :yeshrug:

I came across this pic of some of my uncles in Guyana in the 70's recently and I was laughing my fukking ass off. :russ:

I came across a crazy article recently about some Afghan/Pashtuns being brought to Guyana, it was a good article on the local community there

Problem with Indians is that they have a major inferiority complex and wish they were white

these dudes need to stop crying, just do what they came to this country to do, be grateful, and STFU.

I agree big time. I'm always fukking pissed off when i hear immigrant indians complaining about America. Like, you got it so good here, nobody's harassing you, you're making paper despite a 3rd world education, fukk is wrong with you?

this is how prejudice works though brehs, you can't make their concerns disappear by turning it on them, even if they could do better to build the cross demographic bridges, it's a two way process

This video got me :dead: , especially the part about dudes just making up random racist shyt about brown people. And fukk apu too. And props to him calling out Bobby Jindal the biggest fukking c00n in the universe. He went in tho :gladbron: calling dinesh d'souza an uncle tom

I know right  I don't want Indians to completely pick up the language of AA identity issues (uncle tom etc.) or language used by other communities ('self-hating..') but if someone ever deserved that term it's D'Souza.

GT massive in here. Coolie bai stick together. Can't say my older family members have nice things to say about coolie ppl. It's all love in the younger gens tho. Love me some coolie gyal tho.

EDIT: I have a lot of indian background and relatives but my grandmother growing up really saw a alot of the dirty indian/black dynamic so she is really cynical about indian people in private, even though she doesnt have a real disdain for them if that makes sense.

My mom and her family come from Surinam, great grandmother from Bihar.

A lot of :to: in this thread but also a lot of :what:

It's not that some Indians worship white folk, but more that they worship success. They're the best people to have around when you're doing great and the worst if you're not. I've seen it everywhere I work, if I'm in a higher position they'll treat me like I'm the man if I'm in a lower they'll literally act like just acknowledging my existence is some sort of favor they're doing me.

And honestly the Hindus, my fam are mostly Hindu as well, are way worse than the Buddhists or Muslims.

My black fam, pops from the Antilles, hasn't progressed as quickly as my Hindu fam and the amount of :what: shyt I've heard coming from my mom's side would make you think we're billionaire tyc00ns who don't know just work 9 to 5 like everyone else.

let us put some things into perspective here.

There are 3.1 million indian americans and 14 in the public eye.

There are 3.4 Filipino Americans and none in the public eye except for Michele Malkin. A lot of Filipinos want to count mixed people like Bruno mars or Vanessa Hudgins, but how many straight forward South east asians are in the public eye? None at all. Nobody in the American mainstream culture looks like me.

Black people have their representation, so do Latinos, East Asians and now South Asians. South East Asians? zero.. Nobody. counting all the Racially SEA in America (cambodian/loas etc), there is about 5-6 million of us and not single brown face represents us. We don't have F-500 CEOs like indians. We don't movie stars and televisions shows like indians or blacks or anyone else. We are straight up invisible.

Represent yourself. You need movie stars and celebrities to define your worth? I feel sorry for you.

Shouldn't the solution be 'more south Asians' and not 'too many Indians'?

I know you dislike other brown folk but I don't see why your anger at this issue is directed towards Indians?

I don't dislike other brown folk at all. I am saying that, given their numbers, Indians are WELL represented in TV, Business, science and politics. I think it says a lot about the great qualities of the Indian American community, and even more about the laggards in the South East Asian community. I'm not angry with Indians and their success at all. I greatly respect them, and Pakistanis and other south Asians, who have become so successful in the US.

I am disappointed that I watched a video of an Indian complaining about their supposed "low representation" in public when compared to other ethnic groups they are very over-represented.

There are multiple fortune 500 companies headed by Indian Americans. One of the biggest comedy acts in America is Indian. So many doctors, elite scientists, and successful businessmen are Indian. I don't think they really have room to complain.

Recently, I have been going to door-to-door or "walking" for a conservative candidate, and I have been in some very rich and prestigious Areas in the Silicon Valley. I have seen a large amount of Indians in these areas and NO blacks or Latinos. None! Call me a hater, but I don't think a group with such a skewed socioeconomic status should complain.
