The crazy thing about it is, Cornette does have a point on a lot of the stuff he’s saying, he’s just being full carny/old man cloud about it

I think a lot of what he's saying isn't what people want to hear, but it's what need to be said.
A lot of people got tired of defending wrestling to their non wrestling friends and have started to clown their own sport because they're insecure with the fact that they do something that is "uncool".

Vince McMahon does this too, when he clowns wrestlers who "take it too seriously"

It's a solid fukkery angle that is overused. To me it should only be paired with an "insane" character and lead to a big reveal or debut.
