‘Morbius,’ ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel and More Sony Movies Pushed Back to 2021

Sony Pictures has pushed back many of its major tentpoles — including “Morbius,” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” “Uncharted” and “Peter Rabbit 2” — to next year, the studio announced on Monday.

Jason Reitman’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” has moved from July 10, 2020, to March 5, 2021; Jared Leto’s “Morbius” has been pushed back from July 31, 2020, to March 19, 2021; Tom Holland-starring video game adaptation “Uncharted” went from March 5, 2021, to Oct. 8, 2021; and “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” moved from Aug. 7, 2020, to Jan. 15, 2021. An untitled Sony/Marvel movie was also delayed from an original Oct. 8, 2021 date and is now undated.

Virtually every major Sony title was moved out of 2020, with the exception of Kevin Hart drama “Fatherhood,” which moved up to Oct. 23, 2020, from Jan. 15, 2021. Tom Hanks’ World War II drama “Greyhound,” was taken off the schedule indefinitely from its June release.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
This really doesn't bode well for 2021 either, if you think about it. A lot of films that were supposed to come out next year (we'll use Jurassic World: Dominion as an example) are stuck until it's safe to get production back underway. When will that be? Who knows. I think digital releases will take advantage of this and end up taking movies away from cinema.

The problem is a lot of these films are contractually blinded with movie theatre chains once they go into production. They could have major legal ramifications if they bypass the release in theatres in favor of digital. The only thing I could is if they give theatres a good portion of the profits from digital, but then the studios wouldn’t make any money.

If they actually released all the shows they had promised it would've been. i thought we were getting 5 new live action marvel shows and 3 live action starwars shows.
Got Mandalorian and that was it. They should've had a TGIF in 90s/Fox Saturday morning Cartoons in 90s era type of lineup so i could tune in everyday after work for a new episode of piff. Instead we just got a bunch of old disney movies.
