One of us needs better headphones. I've been wrong about these things before but i don't think this is one of those times.
When in doubt, listen to the chopped and screwed version.
Also, the song is about getting money by illegal means because they are poor, dreaming of having money. He's dreaming of being shaded by a money tree. Meaning he doesn't have "bands". Why would he talk about bands when they are trying to stress the "I'm poor, so i gotta get dough" angle?
Also, my "hooked on phonics" book says that this is clearly the long a sound. B"Ayyyy"...
Bands has a short a sound. (which still sounds the same when the letter is stretched as opposed to the long a, which sounds more like
ey)
