He could at least make this interesting

No shade, b/c Russo provided some good stuff but y'all gotta let Russo go. It's 2018, about to be 2019. What popped 20+ years ago is not gonna pop now. Russo's stuff was a perfect storm type scenario. It was the right time culturally and politically for his style of storytelling. That's not what's currently hot in these television or pop culture streets. And Russo is too dedicated to *his* brand of storytelling to pivot enough to embrace the current (PG) situation.

Honestly, this is another reason I compare WWE's television product to soaps. WWE television has a laundry list of craft issues that won't be solved by bringing in someone from the past whose style is at odds with the current climate and is only going to resonate with viewers who enjoyed their original run. But there's a certain segment of the population viewing through nostalgia glasses talking about bring back____ as if what worked and resonated with audience 20+ years ago is going to work and resonate with the current audience.

It has *never* worked for a soap when they brought back producers, actors/characters, and head writers from glory days gone by...because those glory days have gone by.

WWE doesn't need to bring back Russo. They need to get back to the fundamentals of compelling storytelling. Hero, villain, conflict, emotional stakes...the basics. They don't need to bring back Russo, or the Attitude Era, or The Ruthless Aggression Era or anything like that. They just need to get back to the basics of good storytelling because that's what they've gotten away from.
