Hard agree. Facts are facts, and fact is not everyone can fight. If you've never taught your kid how to defend themselves, it's a huge assumption to just think they'll be able to put in work in a fight. My girls have both taken self defense classes but I tell them all the time do your best to de-escalate a situation before it gets to the point of throwing hands. Especially since these kids these days will rather shoot someone than fight them.
A lot of parents just don't explain the differences between self-defense and fighting just to fight. And hardly any of them teach kids to de-escalate. So many fights in school start over hurt feelings or someone bumping into someone else.
shyt used to drive me insane.
Kid: My mom said if someone hit me, hit them back.
Me: First of all, she didn't hit you. She tapped you to get your attention. Second, now you on the floor crying and in pain. So what did this solve?
Kid: .....
Me: Exactly. Now come on so I can write this office referral and get back to teaching math.
