One of my favorite posse records...in my top 10.

Murderin, numbers on your head while I'm burglarin
Shank is servin em, whassup to all my nikkaz swervin in
New York metropolis, the Bridge brings apocalypse
Shoot at the clouds feels like, the holy beast is watchin us

:ahh:

Hip hop did not innovate much since then. Maybee 10 emcees after that moved the pen game forward.

What a fukking verse, what a perfect track!

It’s crazy to say this but it’s true. The best for Eye For an Eye is underrated. The genius of the flip is not talked about enough, between the production and creativity of the flips on Shook Ones and Survival of the Fittest as well as the amazing verses. The fact that he Re-flipped the OG version is also dope.

wont even lie. I’m a hip hop head and I didn’t hear this original until recently. I didn’t even know wtf I was listening to cuz I was in such amazement to hear these verses. I thought I was dreaming or somehow the GODS was playing with my emotions. And then to hear Ghostface.. I wanted to pull over and take a moment to myself cuz of that shyt.

Even more crazy when you peep where the sample came from. .

:picard:

Havoc was on one

Can't imagine he even had to get sample clearance. .

:wow:
That was the whole reason he flipped it that way. A&R knew there was no way they were clearing a straight Al Green loop so Havoc had to chop it up.

Sound like what he did was low pass the bassline on the original loop and then played one key at different pitches on top of it.

P was just on a whole other entire level of his own 95-96

That time period was so crazy you had like 15-20 rappers who could be considered the GOAT

you right tho, in back to back years P with The Infamous and Hell On Earth was at the top, Havoc too on the production tip
