A lockdown corner is simply a player that locks down his matchup on a highly consistent basis. By your logic, a player cant be a lockdown corner if the QB throws his way consistently..but if that were true, none of the top guys would be able to accumulate interceptions and thus be regarded as a shutdown corner.No. A lockdown CB is someone QBs do their best to try and avoid, so when QBs saw that he didn't have ball skills they started throwing his way more.
